Before you haul something to the curb, it's worth a quick gut-check on whether it has more life left in it. Here's a simple way to decide.
Furniture that's clean, structurally sound, and free of major damage is usually worth offering up before disposal:
Furniture with broken frames, torn upholstery, water damage, or serious wear generally isn't accepted by donation centers and isn't worth the effort to sell. At that point, the fastest path is having it hauled away directly.
Once furniture is picked up as junk, it typically goes one of two ways: items still in reasonable condition are sometimes routed to donation or reuse where possible, and everything else is taken to proper disposal facilities. We're not able to guarantee donation placement for every item, but we do try to keep usable pieces out of the landfill when we can.
If it's usable, give donation or resale a quick try first. If it's not, don't spend a weekend trying to make it someone else's problem — just get it removed and move on.
